Food Face Plate by FRED! As Seen in Parents Magazine
We're hosting a family reunion (dubbed Lovefest) in a couple of weeks with my husbands' family. I really want these plates for the kids! The Summer of '08 me, would definitely have ordered them—even at $10 a plate. But it is afterall the Summer of '09, and this family reunion is on a budget.
Instead I'm going to try out a tip from a mom in Parents a year ago for taming the kitchen sink. I'll buy each child a glass plate and invite them to design their own face (or anything they'd like) on the underside. Then rather than go through a ton of dishes each day of their visit, each child will use his/her very own plate throughout the day. The less time I spend loading and unloading the dishwasher means the more time I have to enjoy family.
Hoping this will be a tip that continues even after the reunion ends, resulting in less plastic kid plates in the house and a greater sense of responsibility for my kids and the unique dishes they have designed.
